A gallery of uniforms
Take a look at some of our favorite uniforms throughout our deep-rooted history in the Hawaiian Islands.
On our first day of service, we carried 76 guests on sightseeing tours over O‘ahu on our first-ever aircraft. This is our 90th year sharing the Islands and authentic Hawaiian hospitality with guests from near and far. We’re as honored by the privilege as we were in 1929.
Hawaiian Airlines was born in Hawai‘i. About 90% of our over 7,000 employees make Hawai‘i their home. We live, work and play here. We are part of Hawai‘i and Hawai‘i is part of us.
We exist to bring people to and from Hawai‘i. It’s all we do. We select our aircraft, design our cabins and craft our service to reflect Hawai‘i. This ensures our guests experience the Aloha Spirit long before they reach their destination.
It’s our responsibility and our honor to share our culture and our home with the world. In everything we do, we try to make our friends and family in Hawai‘i proud.
During this anniversary year, our employees share their Aloha with a company-matched employee giving program. Hawaiian Airlines will match the first $90,000 in employee donations to organizations that support the culture, people and stewardship of Hawai‘i.
Over the span of 90 years, a lot has changed... and not only in the aviation industry, but within the Hawaiian Islands themselves. As the chief archivist of Hawaiian Airlines, Captain Rick Rogers accurately recounts the company’s rich history and has kept chronological records since its inception in 1929.
Our logo has also evolved over the years. The ‘I‘iwi bird became part of our logo in 1952, which was later changed to a Jetbird in 1966 to symbolize our change over to a jet service. Pualani (flower of the sky) made her introduction along with a new unified livery in 1973.
Since then, Pualani has been our beacon of Hawaiian hospitality. While her appearance has changed throughout the years, she remains a promise to our guests that we offer something no other airline can—the warmth, care and generosity that are hallmarks of our Hawaiian culture.
Mahalo for taking us with you on your adventures for the past 90 years. As our valued guest, you are essential to our success. We learn from you and will never stop improving your travel experience.
We look forward to joining you on your travels ahead.
