The Royal Hawaiian Center in Waikiki offers complimentary beginner classes in lei-making, ukulele, Hawaiian lomilomi massage, quilting and hula by kumu (teachers) sharing their expertise in each field.
The one-hour classes are limited to 25 participants, so get there early.
Learn chords on the ukulele from seasoned performers Wainani Yim and Puakeala Mann, try your hand at lomilomi massage or pick up the kui method of stringing flowers from Naomi and Alex of Aunty Bella’s Lei Stand.
On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays you can also listen to master storyteller Tom Cummings share moolelo (stories) of old Hawaii.
