Not many people know that the first commercial vanilla farm in the U.S. is located in Paauilo on the Big Island’s Hamakua Coast.
The Hawaiian Vanilla Co. started in 1998 by the Reddekopp family who had purchased five acres of land here.
In addition to growing and selling vanilla, the farm also offers farm tours, tea service, vanilla tastings and a vanilla-themed luncheon.
