The largest of all the islands, Hawaii Island continues to grow in size as lava flows into the sea. Beyond the volcano, there's so much to experience here, from cowboy country, luxury resorts to eco-adventures.

The eruption of Kilauea Volcano began in 1983 and continues today, making Hawaii Volcanoes National Park a hot spot for visitors.

Hawaii Island is the home to two mountains. Mauna Kea, a dormant volcano and the tallest sea mountain in the world, with a summit that reaches 13,796 feet above sea level, rising more than 32,000 feet from the ocean floor. Mauna Loa is the most massive mountain in the world, covering half of the island.

While visiting Hawaii Island, you can also experience some of the most beautiful and challenging golf courses, sacred cultural and historical sites including the birthplace of Hawaii's first king, Kamehameha I, and the first missionary church in the state.  Deep-sea anglers from all over the world flock here in late summer for the annual Hawaiian International Billfish Tournament in Kona. While the world's top triathletes race for the top spot in their sport's iconic event, the Ironman World Championship in October.
